Activity and events guide in Fuengirola

Feria de Fuengirola

It is one of the most prestigious and famous festivals in Costa del Sol. It is celebrated every year from the 6th to the 12th of October in honour of the patron saint and perpetual Mayoress of Fuengirola, Our Lady of the Rosary. It is carried out in the fairground.

The City Hall organises an extensive activities programme every year in which the star of the show is the horse, which acquires a great importance throughout the week’s celebrations.

At the fairground, where all the activities are carried out during this big week in Fuengirola, there are 32 permanent clubhouses with their doors always opened for all the visitors that want to enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere of this amazing festival. Also, there are first-class artistic performances in the Palacio de la Paz.

Beer festival

At the end of July and the beginning of August every year the great beer festival is celebrated in Sohail Castle in Fuengirola, next to the beach.

This part of Málaga has its own Oktoberfest just like in Munich, with the best beer imported from Germany and the tastiest sausages and other delicacies like fricadela, roasted ham knuckle or churut.

Mercado Medieval

This market takes place every year from the 16th to the 23rd of August. The Sohail Castle in Fuengirola (Arabic fort restored by the City Hall and converted into an auditorium) accommodates this spectacular Medieval Market where you can purchase all kinds of products. This visit is truly a journey in time, a stroll around Spain with jesters, crafts guilds and the traditional cuisine, with bread, leather, pottery, carpentry, jewellery and toy workshops.

The visitors can admire how they made all these products in the past without industrial intervention.

To energise the market there are activities running at the same time like donkey rides, witches and fortune-tellers, wading birds, archery, story-telling and children’s games, juggling, street theatre and recreation of traditional figures.
